WELCOME TO THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

I hope you are all having a relaxing summer as the new school year will be here before you know it! Your PTSA and
Booster Club leadership teams have been hard at work planning for a great year and we will continue to represent our
school motto “ALL for ONE and ONE for ALL” by working closely with administrators, staff, and students to support all
stakeholders at Northwest High School.

As you may know, Northwest has two parent organizations, the PTSA and the Booster Club. The PTSA advocates for the
school and community on a local, county, state, and national level, organizes staff appreciation events and the After
Prom Party, provides student scholarships, and helps to fund school improvements and programs such as Diversity
Night. The Booster Club supports all school-sponsored extracurricular activities and clubs, helps to fund school-wide
educational programs, provides student scholarships, and contributes to the After Prom Party. Although the two
organizations maintain separate Boards of Directors, we work closely together to streamline efforts to respect the busy
schedules of our parents, staff, and students, to alleviate duplication of work, and to reduce costs so that more money
can be used to directly benefit Northwest.

As a part of our effort to simplify communication and reduce costs, we will have ONE membership form to join PTSA
and the Booster Club. You will have the option to support PTSA, the Booster Club, or both – we strongly encourage you
to support both. We will send out ONE e-newsletter each week with all PTSA and Booster Club news. PTSA and Boosters
will hold our parent meetings on the same night so that parents only need to attend ONE meeting to stay informed (see
calendar for meeting dates). Finally, we will utilize ONE website, which will contain all the important information for
both organizations. Our website is a work in progress so until we have a combined site, you can visit www.nwhsptsa.org
to join PTSA and the Booster Club, subscribe to our email list, get the latest news, and find volunteer opportunities.

The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 3rd and I cannot wait to see you at Back to School Night on Thursday,
September 5th at 6:30 pm. Remember to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! If you have any questions,
please feel free to email me. Enjoy the remainder of your summer!

Sincerely,
Kim Summers, President
NWHS PTSA and Booster Club
